The Protection of Children
and Young People in the Church

The General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in May 1997 instructed all Kirk Sessions and congregations to take all steps necessary to ensure to the best of their ability the protection of children and young people from abuse or harm.  A Policy Statement to this effect was approved by the General Assembly, together with a thirteen point Code of Good Practice.  Kirk Sessions were instructed to adopt and implement both the Policy Statement and the Code.
